Book Review: “Blame” by Melody Dimick

Set in the shadows of the Adirondack Mountains, “Blame” is the third book in a young adult series by local author Melody Dimick.

A group of misfit girls form a Manga club which has now grown to include male friends.  They tackle issues faced by many teens as they navigate high school.  This story revolves around Jacob Barnaby, one of the newer members of the club.  On the night of jacob’s 17th birthday he discovers a text on his fathers phone which leads him to believe his father is being unfaithful to his mother.  Jacob’s father is a prominent attorney, representing some questionable characters that may be involved in some of the mysteries the “Manga Club” is looking into..
The books are part an investigation into social and personal issues faced by many teens, and part sophisticated “Nancy Drew” type mysteries.
Melody Dimick taught at Northern Adirondak Central School and draws instpiration from her classroom experiences.   She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Florida Writers Association, and the Florida Authors and Publishers Association.  She and her husband Barry live in DeLand.
